The Silence of Kawabata
(written after Yasunari Kawabata's death)
He heard the mountain’s voice
wore village silk bleached by snow
loved the calm of the tiny bunting birds
honored the geisha’s blush just below her powder line.
Now
who will tell me these things
I need to know.
