maybe god needed a better poet to hear
at least the thunder will have some competition
yet carolina will miss its daughter's tales of home
and the world will have one less trumpet for justice
as the angels welcome another teacher
now, we must carry the baton she held proudly
greet even your enemies as friends; she would've
